Year Certified in Lagree: 2021
Michael Chipman has been mentored by Sébastien Lagree, Senior MT Sharnee Lee Scott and Lagree studio owner Lisa Goldsman. As a passionate educator, Michael brings decades of experience as a college professor, writer, and private voice teacher to his work as a Lagree fitness instructor and teacher trainer.
Michael discovered Lagree at the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic and began practicing almost daily for a year. After years of practicing yoga and Pilates (in addition to triathlon and fitness training) he found the Lagree method to be so transformational—body, mind, and soul—that he jumped at the chance to become a certified trainer in 2021, and he has been teaching Lagree ever since.
In addition to his Lagree training, Michael is also a certified mindfulness meditation teacher, a classically trained singer, and published author with graduate degrees in music from Oberlin Conservatory and the University of Utah and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from Utah State University. For ten years he was an assistant professor and head of the voice program at Westminster College in Salt Lake City, and in 2022 he served on the adjunct voice faculty at the the USC Thornton School of Music. Currently he teaches classical voice as a member of the the voice faculty at the Colburn School for the Performing Arts in downtown Los Angeles.
